The Maersk Dhaka was close to the Panamanian bulker Clinker Carrier when it issued a distress signal, and the Rickmers Group-owned box ship was requested by the local rescue coordination team to proceed to the casualty and remain on scene as long as necessary.
Once the rescue operation was complete, Maersk Dhaka was released and continued her voyage to Mumbai, where the castaways have disembarked.
