Matson parent opens Orange County real estate office

Matson parent opens Orange County real estate office Honolulu-based A&B Properties Inc., the real estate arm of Matson Navigation Co. parent firm Alexander & Baldwin Inc., has opened an Orange County, Calif., office to expand its portfolio outside of Hawaii.
   A&B Properties Chief Executive Officer Stanley Kuriyama cited additional opportunities for growth and value creation in the mainland market for the move.
   Kevin Stiles, a 20-year veteran of the real estate investment industry, has been hired as vice president of A&B Properties mainland acquisitions and will lead the new office. Stiles will be responsible for acquiring and investing in income producing properties, entitled development land and joint-venture development projects. Most recently, Stiles was vice president of leasing for CarrAmerica Realty Corp.
   In the past four years, A&B Properties has collaborated on the development of several retail and office properties in California with an total value in excess of $100 million.
   A&B's commercial real estate portfolio, including both Hawaii and on the mainland, contains more than 5.4 million square feet of retail, office and industrial space. In the past decade, the firm has committed more than $670 million toward 25 properties outside of the firm's 89,000 acres of Hawaii landholdings.
