China container growth slowed in October

China container growth slowed in October    China's top 10 ports saw container volume growth rates slow in October, according to maritime news service Alphaliner.
   Helped by the Golden Week holidays and slowing cargo volumes, collective volume at the top 10 ports grew 13.3 percent to 9.9 million TEUs in October versus the same month in 2009 — lower than the 20.1 percent growth for the year.
   China's busiest container port, Shanghai, saw its growth slide to 8.7 percent, compared to 17.5 percent year-to-date. Shenzhen and Ningbo also saw considerable growth rate declines in October.
   Among the top 10, only three ports in northeastern China's Bohai Bay region — Qingdao, Dalian and Yingkou — saw volume rise higher in October than year-to-date.
