Former CTA VP named to head trucking executives? council

Former CTA VP named to head trucking executivesÆ council The Trucking Association Executives’ Council said Wednesday it has elected Karen Rasmussen, a former vice president of the California Trucking Association, as national chairman for 2007-2008 at its annual meeting in Destin, Fla.
   A resident of Phoenix and 25-year veteran of the trucking industry, Rasmussen has been president and chief executive officer of the Arizona Trucking Association since 2001.
   Rasmussen first served as a transportation specialist for three Oklahoma governors from 1973 to 1983, advising on a variety of truck transportation initiatives. She then spent nearly 13 years working for the California Trucking Association as director of governmental affairs and vice president. In 1997, Rasmussen took a position with Ryder System as director of government relations.
   The Arizona Trucking Association is a regional branch of the American Trucking Association.
   Other TAEC national officers elected for 2007-2008 are: Vice Chairman, Kenneth E. Cragen, president of the Indiana Motor Truck Association; Secretary/Treasurer, Bob Farrell, executive director of the National Automobile Carriers Conference; and Recording Secretary, Elisabeth Barna, vice president of strategic planning and outreach, ATA.
   TAEC comprises staff executives of state trucking associations and conferences affiliated with ATA.
   ATA, with 37,000 motor carrier members in 50 affiliated state trucking associations, is the largest national trade association for the trucking industry.
