Samskip adds Rotterdam-Hamburg/Norway link

Samskip adds Rotterdam-Hamburg/Norway link    Samskip Multimodal Container Logistics will start a weekly service connecting the Netherlands with Norway's West Coast.
   Through this service, the company will provide direct calls between Rotterdam and Hamburg and the ports of Stavanger, Haugesund, Bergen and 'lesund in Norway.
   'Until recently, Norway was being served via the main ports in the Oslofjord. Oncarriage to the West Coast was carried out through a combination of rail and road transport, resulting in additional transit time and cost,' said Caesar Luikenaar, Samskip's route manager for Norway services.
   'In addition to this geographical expansion, Samskip will also introduce 45-foot containers to this market, enabling customers to switch from using trailer cargo to the more environmentally friendly transport method of waterborne 45-foot containers,' he said.
   With its fleet of flat rack equipment, Samskip offers logistics services for the West-Norwegian offshore and heavy industry markets. For shippers' owned containers, such as tank and bulk equipment, Samskip provides quay-to-quay services covering the entire network.
