Reuters reported Monday that U.S. prosecutors said they expect to reach a settlement this week.
“In the last week, substantial progress has been made in resolving the administrative aspects of this matter, the final component that needed to be resolved,” U.S. prosecutors said in a court filing made on Friday. “It is anticipated that an agreement in principle on an administrative resolution will be reached early next week.”
Agility, formerly known as PWC, was indicted last fall for overcharging the U.S. Defense Department on an $8.5 billion logistics contract to supply troops. Agility initially denied the charges but has since acknowledged that it is seeking a settlement with the government. The company has been suspended from bidding on new defense contracts since November.
The Reuters report indicated the settlement hinges on whether Agility would be allowed to bid on future contracts.
Earlier this month, another company was chosen by the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency to assume Agility's role later this year. The company, Dubai-based Anham, was granted a $2.2 billion contract.
