Florida wins economic leadership award

Florida wins economic leadership award Florida Enterprise, the state's public-private partnership for commerce and economic development, has been awarded an economic development award on behalf of the state of Florida at the CoreNet Global Summit held in Denver last week.
   Florida was honored with Lockheed Martin Corp., and with Colorado, Louisiana and Texas for supporting Lockheed Martin's bid on the $5 billion Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV), which will eventually be used to transport astronauts to the moon and on to Mars. Florida awarded $35 in infrastructure needs in 2006 that were related to the development of the CEV. Florida's efforts helped reduce the contract bid by $50 million.
   'I congratulate Lockheed Martin and all our partners who share this honor with Enterprise Florida,' EFI president and CEO John Adams said. 'This award represents Florida's commitment to its aviation and aerospace sector and the value of strong alliances between the private and public sectors.'
