Rickmers-Linie to set up Japanese subsidiary

Rickmers-Linie to set up Japanese subsidiary    Hamburg, Germany-based breakbulk, heavy lift and project cargo shipping line Rickmers-Linie will establish its own Japanese subsidiary in June.
   The new company, Rickmers (Japan) Inc. will be based in Tokyo and start operations June 1.
   Rickmers (Japan) will take over the work of Rickmers-Linie’s former agent in the North Asian country, Japan Heavy Lift Inc., whose contract with the German company will end May 31.
   “This step reflects the significance of the Japanese market as well as Rickmers-Linie’s long-term commitment and objectives of providing dedicated services to its Japanese customers and market place,” Rickmers-Linie said in statement.
   The carrier offers fortnightly sailings from Japan to the United States and destinations in Central America, as well as a monthly westbound service from the U.S. to Japan.
