Turkish Airlines lands in Cargo 2000 Turkish Airlines has become the 28th airline to join Cargo 2000, an International Air Transport Association-sponsored standardized management system.
   Cargo 2000 is designed to improve cargo service by streamlining processes, establishing performance indicators, and automating costly manual, paper-based functions.
   'We have received requests from major freight forwarding customers for Turkish Airlines to join Cargo 2000 and we believe this is the right time to do so,' said Atilla Lise, senior vice president of cargo, in a statement.
   Cargo 2000 developers say the program more than halves the number of individual processes in the air cargo supply chain to just 19, and subsequently reduces time spent managing irregularities, such as service failures, cuts the time required for manual track and trace procedures, and leads to a reduction in service recovery costs.
   In addition to airlines, Cargo 2000's membership includes forwarders, ground handlers, trucking companies and information technology providers.
