STX’s Shin new COO of Aker Yards

STX’s Shin new COO of Aker Yards Norwegian shipbuilder Aker Yards ASA has appointed Sang-Ho Shin as chief operating officer.
   Shin was vice president of STX Shipbuilding in Korea, part of Korea’s STX Business Group, the majority owner of Aker Yards controlling more than 92 percent of shares.
   Aker Yards said the new COO would focus on production efficiency, procurement, logistics, knowledge transfer, and technology and innovation.
   “The recruitment strengthens the corporate management and the support of the business operations,” said Torstein Dale Sj'tveit, Aker Yard’s chief executive officer.
   As a consequence of STX being the new principal owner, Aker Yards is to change its name to STX Europe during the fall.
