Former Caltrans top engineer Benouar joins Sensys

Former Caltrans top engineer Benouar joins Sensys Hamed Benouar, a former chief engineer for the California Department of Transportation, has joined Berkley-based traffic management technology firm Sensys Networks Inc. as vice president of business development.
   Benouar, formerly director of the California Center for Innovative Transportation, based at the University of California, Berkeley, will work to advance the firm's wireless technology. Sensys technology combines magnetic sensors with radio technology to create a vehicle detection system able to address a wide range of traffic management applications.
   Before joining CCIT, Benouar served as chief traffic engineer for Caltrans, overseeing the state-wide Caltrans Transportation Operations Program.
   He also sits on the Transportation Research Board Critical Infrastructure Protection Committee, the Advisory Committee to the ITS Congressional Caucus, the Intelligent Transportation Society of California board of directors, and the ITS World Congress Program Committee, Beijing 2007.
