Fraser port operations VP Weber to retire

Fraser port operations VP Weber to retire Pat Weber, Fraser River Port Authority's vice president of operations and harbor master, announced this week she will retire at the end of November.
   Weber joined the Canadian port's administration in 1989 after leaving Rivtow Straits Ltd., a British Columbia towboat company. She was named as the port authority's first environmental administrator in 1990 and managed a growing environment department over the next decade. In 2002, she was appointed vice president of operations for the port.
   Capt. Allen Domaas, the port authority's president and chief executive officer, credited Weber with developing inroads with the local community and fostering a better community understanding that the port authority is approachable, reasonable and responsive.
   Fraser River Port, Canada's largest river port, is that country's largest automobile port. The port authority administers nearly 170 miles of shoreline along the first 40 miles of the Fraser River. The port generates 16,100 direct local jobs and contributes $2.8 billion to Canada's gross domestic product.
