APL Logistics, Con-Way expanding OceanGuaranteed service in Asia

APL Logistics, Con-Way expanding OceanGuaranteed service in Asia APL Logistics and Con-way Freight will next week introduce four new origin ports in Asia to their joint time-definite, less-than-containerload OceanGuaranteed cargo service to the United States.
   The service started early September offering shippers 'port-to-door' guaranteed service from the Chinese ports of Hong Kong, Shanghai and Shenzhen to all U.S. destinations served by Con-way Freight.
   OceanGuaranteed will Jan. 22 be expanded to include Kaoshiung in Taiwan and Yokohama in Japan. A week later, the service will commence from Singapore and Busan, Korea.
   Features of OceanGuaranteed include:
   * A simplified per-kilo, zone-based pricing structure, so customers pay the same price from any of the seven origin ports.
   * Expedited handling and priority shipboard stowage for rapid discharge at the destination port.
   * Penalty fees of 20 percent for shipments missing the delivery-day commitment are returned to the shipper.
   * C-TPAT-certified shipments are segregated and loaded in dedicated containers allowing these cargoes to be 'green laned' by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
   * Web-based 24-hour shipment tracking.
   APL Logistics serves as the overall program manager and the carrier of record for shipments tendered on APL Logistics through bills of lading. The Singapore-based company will handle all in-country shipment management services in China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Singapore with ocean carriage provided by its liner shipping sister company APL.
   Con-way manages the receipt of ocean containers and deconsolidation in Los Angeles, and the delivery of cargo as less-than-trailerload shipments to customers throughout the United States.
