Savannah container volume up 16% in February    The Georgia Ports Authority said container volume at the Port of Savannah rose 16.3 percent in February to 235,665 TEUs.
   'Heavy volumes have been driven by ongoing market recovery and continued inventory replenishment,' said Curtis Foltz, GPA's executive director, in a statement. 'Exports continue to outpace imports since the depth of the recession in 2009.'
   Breakbulk tonnage rose 51.6 percent in February to 177,073 tons, while the number of automobiles moving through Savannah and Brunswick rose 78.9 percent to 40,734 units.
   'The high automobile volumes are reflective of market share gains by the primary brands the GPA handles, specifically Hyundai, Mercedes, BMW, Kia and Volkswagen,' the port authority said.
