Budapest attracts Turkish Air freighter service

Budapest attracts Turkish Air freighter service    Turkish Airlines' said it today launches an all-cargo service between Istanbul and Budapest, Hungary.
The airline's cargo division will fly a widebody Airbus A310 with a capacity of 40 tons between the two cities.
The freighter will complement cargo capacity on Turkish Airlines' passenger flights, which recently increased from once to 10 times a week.
Budapest Airport is growing as a cargo hub for central Europe. In the first four months of 2011, cargo tonnage increased 30 percent, and the number of freighter flights grew 7 percent. There are now 13 scheduled freighter operators serving Budapest. The airport is drawing up plans to upgrade its cargo and logistics facilities. A new Cargo City housing handling agents and freight forwarders is to be completed by the end of 2012.
'We consider this only as a test. Should the business develop the way we project, we're ready to increase our frequency the same way we're constantly increasing our passenger network. July is a milestone in our presence in Hungary. Should the bilateral air service agreement allow us, we would be pleased to increase our presence in the Hungarian market even more,' said Turkish Cargo General Manager Levend Arisoy.
