DHL creates single headquarters office

DHL creates single headquarters office    Overnight parcel delivery company DHL announced it will consolidate its U.S. headquarter functions in South Florida as part of the company’s overall integration of Seattle-based Airborne Express, which it purchased in August.
DHL, which has offices in Plantation, Fla., indicated it was considering combining the offices at the time of the transaction.
A DHL representative said South Florida presented several advantages, including the fact that DHL Americas (which manages the DHL operations in Canada, the United States, the Carribean and Latin America) is located in the area and that it was two time zones closer to DHL’s worldwide headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.
Astar Air Cargo, one of two airlines used by DHL and the company that previously operated as DHL Airways before being sold earlier this year, is based in Miami.
DHL also announced several changes to its management team. Richard Metzler was named executive vice president of marketing for the Americas. He previously was chief executive officer of APL Logistics.
David Anderson was appointed general counsel after previously serving in the same capacity for Airborne. Fred Beljaars was appointed executive vice president of operations. He previously served as senior vice president of operations for DHL in the U.S.
Randy Clark was named executive vice president of sales. He was senior vice president of marketing, sales and customer relations for DHL Americas.
Richard Corrado was appointed to the newly created position of executive vice president of business development. He previously was vice president of marketing for Airborne.
