MSC starts South Florida/Bahamas loop

MSC starts South Florida/Bahamas loop Mediterranean Shipping Co. has started a three-times weekly service from Port Everglades to Nassau in the Bahamas that the Florida port estimates will generate an extra 20,000 TEUs each year.
   Port Everglades Director Phillip C. Allen recently greeted the arrival of the first ship in the rotation, the 585-TEU MSC Aures by presenting a welcoming plaque to MSC General Manager Jose Moreno.
   'MSC's new service offers opportunities for smaller shippers who want to transship through South Florida to the Bahamas,' Allen said. 'There is a significant demand for this service from Port Everglades due to the Port's direct access to the interstate highway system and proximity to Bahamas.'
