Carmichael International expands to Detroit

The addition of Detroit as its 13th office gave the customs brokerage company a physical presence on the Northern U.S.-Canada border.    Customs brokerage and trade compliance specialist Carmichael International Service, a division of APL Logistics, is expanding into Detroit with a new full-service office.
   The expansion will give Carmichael a physical presence on the Northern U.S.-Canada border, as Detroit is one of the largest cities to move cargo across the border, the company said.
   “This move realizes our vision of offering our customers who conduct business between the U.S. and Canada a comprehensive brokerage solution in North America,” Carmichael President Todd Boice said.
   Adding Detroit gives Carmichael 13 locations in the U.S. – including the recent office that opened in Charlotte, N.C. in August 2016.
   In addition to U.S. customs brokerage, Carmichael offers similar services in Canada through a partnership with Kintetsu World Express, and in Mexico via a partnership with Carmi Logistics. Both partnerships offer customs brokerage, compliance management, duty drawback and customs bond management.
