The 2 million euro (U.S. $2.2 million) facility complements DHL’s existing Jakarta Gateway 510 at the airport. The Jakarta Gateway 510 is operating at full capacity due to strong growth over the years, DHL said.
The 1,353-square-meter Jakarta Gateway 530 facility can manage twice the number of containers than the Jakarta Gateway 510. In addition, its airside location provides direct air access and focuses on export and formal import processes with in-house customs to support a more efficient clearance process.
The new facility is equipped with dual-view x-ray security screening, heavy duty x-ray security, an explosive trace detector system to ensure the safety and security of each shipment, an access control system, and 103 CCTV cameras.
DHL said the most popular trading partners that will benefit from the new facility include mainland China, Germany, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and the United States.
“This latest investment enhances our network in Indonesia, which includes gateways in Balikpapan, Batam, Denpasar (Bali), Jakarta, Medan and Surabaya, and enables us to grow with our customers,” DHL Express Indonesia Senior Technical Advisor Ahmad Mohamad said. “With the new gateway, we can better manage the increasing shipments from SMEs and support their expansion internationally and help them tap into the global marketplace.”
