In Mexico, ICTSI has started the construction of the Specialized Container Terminal-2 in the Port of Manzanillo.
As part of the expansion it will receive four super post-Panamax Kalmar ship-to-shore cranes and 10 rubber-tire gantry cranes (RTGs) during the first half of 2013.
The terminal is projected to have an annual capacity of 450,000 TEUs.
Last month, APM Terminals announced it has been awarded a 32-year concession to build a new terminal in Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico, about 350 kilometers down the coast from Monterrey. The APM Terminal will have an initial annual capacity of 1.2 million TEUs and as many as 4.2 million TEUs when fully built.
In the Philippines, at ICTSI’s flagship facility Manila International Container Terminal, the company expects delivery of eight RTGs. The new equipment is part of the Berth 6 project, which handles 65 percent of the cargo at the terminal.
ICTSI’s said its Manila operation is expected to grow from its current annual capacity of 1.9 million TEUs to 2.5 million TEUs. Berth 6 will begin operation in June.
ICTSI is currently involved in the operations and development of 22 marine terminals and port projects in 17 countries.
