Simatech to establish container terminal at Iran port

Simatech to establish container terminal at Iran port Dubai-based Simatech Group, said Tuesday that in liaison with the Iranian Line Services Co., it has entered into a joint venture agreement with Tide Water Dubai to establish a $50 million container terminal in the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas.
   Construction of the terminal started in 2005 with the first phase due for completion this October. Phase 1 includes 110,000 square meters of container yard with nine rubber-tired gantry (RTG) cranes, 40 prime movers, reach stackers and empty container handlers.
   The second phase will include an extension of the container yard area to include offices and container freight station. The entire project will comprise a total of 230,000 square meters.
