Sheeran picked to head UN’s World Food Program

Sheeran picked to head UNÆs World Food Program    Josette Sheeran has been named executive director of the United Nation's World Food Program.
   Prior to this appointment, Sheeran served as the U.S. State Department's undersecretary of state, economic, business and agricultural affairs since August 2005. She also held recent posts as deputy U.S. trade representative and managing editor for the Washington Times newspaper.
   Sheeran succeeds James Morris, who headed the World Food Program since April 2003.
   The World Food Program is the world's largest humanitarian agency. In 2005, it helped 97 million people, with a total expenditure of $3.1 billion. The program was created in 1963 as a joint operation of the UN and the Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome.
