Panalpina gives top job to Ribar    Swiss-owned forwarding and logistics group Panalpina has appointed Monika Ribar as its group chief executive officer, replacing Bruno Sidler who resigned at the start of the year following the discovery of booking fraud by an unnamed manager at Panalpina Airfreight Management Ltd.
   Ribar joined the company in 1991 and was most recently Panalpina’s chief financial officer. She will start in her new role Oct. 1. Until then Gerhard Fischer, Panalpina’s chairman, will continue to serve as interim CEO.
   “As CFO, she played an important part in Panalpina’s IPO. Further, she rapidly secured investors’ confidence and the company’s credibility following the unfortunate incident in January this year,” Fischer said.
   “It is my goal, in close cooperation with my colleagues on the executive board and the regional and country organizations, to strengthen Panalpina’s market position in a rapidly changing environment by bringing in new ideas and by consequently implementing decisions,” Ribar said.
