“It has been a great ride for just over 19 years as president of AAEI, and I am fast approaching junction 67,” he said. “The time is right for a change and for me to board a ‘local.’ “
Milosh joined AAEI (formerly the American Importers Association) in 1981. “I recall when our annual meeting constituted a mere two-hour lunch with 200-to-300 importer-only attendees,” he said. “I take great pride in the fact that the last conference (in New York), including importers and exporters, was a record-breaking 660 attendees.”
AAEI boasts about 1,100 industry member/subscribers today, ranging from importers, exporters, freight forwarders, customs brokers, consultants and attorneys. The association is best known for its cooperation with U.S. Customs and serving its members through educational forums on the latest industry issues.
Milosh started his career in 1957 with Union Carbide, where he spent 15 years as a marketing executive in the company’s international division. In the early 1970s, he was appointed vice president of operations of the U.S.-USSR Trade and Economic Council in New York.
Milosh said he doesn’t plan to stop working altogether. He has already been asked to lead a government-backed industry delegation to Cuba later this year.
An AAEI committee will be set up to recruit a new association president.
