Rhode Island Port exports used trucks An exporter of used trucks has begun moving its product through Rhode Island’s Quonset Port of Davisville in North Kingston.
   This week, the initial shipment of 100 truck tractors was loaded aboard a 'K' Line ship that had delivered Volkswagen automobiles to the Narragansett Bay terminal.
   The Rhode Island Economic Development Corp. said it expects the exporter Auto Transport International may eventually move 200 to 300 trucks through the port.
   The trucks were driven or hauled to Davisville from various locations across the United States and will be shipped to Emden, Germany.
   Auto Transport also exports through other ports including New York and Jacksonville, Fla.
   The same company that processes inbound cars in the port, NORAD, will process the truck tractors for export, including clearing them through customs, inspecting them for damage, and providing storage.
