UPS Worldwide Logistics said Thursday that it signed a two-year
logistics and distribution contract with Hewlett-Packard’s European
components operation.
Atlanta-based UPS Worldwide Logistics will transport electronic
components from Hewlett-Packard’s Far East manufacturing plants to its
European customers.
UPS staff has been placed in Hewlett-Packard’s factories in Penang,
Malaysia, to prepare the shipments, which will be flown to Frankfurt and
Cologne and divided into standard and express packages for delivery by UPS.
Hewlett-Packard will be able to track and trace its shipments through
multiple carriers, forwarders and customs brokers, using UPS’s EventTracker
Internet-based software system.
