The report, prepared by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, found that JFK handled $59.3 billion in exports and $75.6 billion in imports for a total of $134.9 billion in 2005.
According to the agency, JFK has held the top spot since 1999, with the exception of 2003 when the Port of Los Angeles took the lead.
The other top five U.S. ports by value are the Port of Los Angeles ($134.3 billion), Detroit border crossing ($130.5 billion), Port of New York and New Jersey ($130.4 billion), and Port of Long Beach, Calif. ($124.6 billion).
