Hamburg Sud funding mariner education Citing a “pressing need for additional funding sources for nautical ship’s officers,” Hamburg S'd said it is endowing a chair at Flensburg Technical College.
   The school will endow the chair at the school for three years where it says many of its technical officers “have enjoyed an outstanding level of training.”
   The company will support the school’s planned nautics course 'Ocean Shipping and
Logistics,' which will be offered for the first time in the 2007-2008 winter semester and create 40 more college slots for trainees in nautical science.
   The company said that in parallel with the endowed chair it has also expanded its own training program, doubling the number of trainees at sea to 20.
