Del Monte chooses Port of Dunkirk

   The Port of Dunkirk announced Wednesday that Del Monte France will import its bananas from Cameroon via the Port of Dunkirk, using CMA CGM’s PC Hebdo line. 
   Del Monte’s agreement with CMA CGM, which recently announced the reorganization of its PC Hebdo service, has positioned the Port of Dunkirk as the leading European port for goods imported from the West Coast of Africa, the port said in a statement.  
   The decision to transfer its traffic from Cameroon via Dunkirk coincides with the opening of Del Monte’s first ripening shed at the Rungis international market, Del Monte said in a statement. This will allow Del Monte to distribute its bananas in the yellow stage at their new distribution center. The total capacity of the ripening shed will be 27,000 tons of bananas a year.
