Daymon starts logistics division with Echo

   Stamford, Conn.-based Daymon Worldwide has launched its new Daymon Global Logistics division to offer transportation management and logistics support for its retail and supplier partners.
   To start the logistics arm, Daymon developed a partnership with Echo Global Logistics, a provider of transportation and supply chain management services based in Chicago. Echo supplies proprietary technology, sourcing knowledge, and access to its network of carriers.
   “We recognize that cost pressures and logistics challenges are ongoing concerns for many suppliers and retailers,” said Carla Cooper, chief executive officer of Daymon Worldwide. Cooper said the service will focus on answering client issues around the availability of carriers, time required to book and monitor loads, and the need for competitive rates.
   Echo has a network of more than 24,000 carriers, who will be available from Daymon Global Logistics through a customized Web portal the companies hope will provide increased visibility and control of the supply chain.
   The venture went into effect earlier this month.
