DHL adds to environmentally friendly fleet

The integrator will introduce its first LNG truck and teardrop trailers.    Deutsche Post DHL announced that it will add to its fleet one LNG truck and two teardrop trailers, which feature a curved roof that reduces air resistance, cutting fuel consumption by 5 percent to 10 percent compared to regular heavy-load trucks.
   The new vehicles will be operated by DHL partner Ninatrans in Belgium. DHL currently operates approximately 11,500 vehicles with alternative drive systems and aerodynamic modifications. The company purchased the two teardrop trailers from Don-Bur and the LNG-truck from Iveco, saying the acquisition will “contribute to the continuous efforts of both DHL and Ninatrans to reduce CO2 emissions”

The teardrop trailer and the LNG truck perfectly represent this approach and will help to reduce the environmental impact of the operations.”
