P&O NEDLLOYD, MOL REVISE ASIA/SOUTH AMERICA LINK

P&O NEDLLOYD, MOL REVISE ASIA/SOUTH AMERICA LINK    P&O Nedlloyd and MOL have upgraded their Asia/East Coast South America joint service to a fixed-day weekly frequency,
The revised rotation of the service is Yokohama, Nagoya, Kobe, Pusan, Keelung, Hong Kong, Singapore, Port Elizabeth, Santos, Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Rio Grande, Paranagua, Santos, Rio de Janeiro or Sao Francisco do Sul (on alternate sailings), Cape Town, Durban, Singapore, Hong Kong and back to Yokohama.
MOL will not carry cargoes to and from the South African ports called en route by the joint Asia/South America service.
From next month, the service will employ 10 ships ranging in size from 2,100 to 2,800 TEUs. The vessels have a speed of over 22 knots, P&O Nedlloyd and MOL said.
For P&O Nedlloyd, the upgraded Asia/South Africa/South America service will partly replace its participation in the Asia/South Africa “Safari” consortium service. P&O Nedlloyd will pull out of the Safari consortium in early April.
P&O Nedlloyd also provides connections between Asia and South Africa on its Asia/South Africa/West Africa “Waccon” service. This weekly service will be upgraded with larger tonnage in April and May. The Waccon service calls at Shanghai, Busan, Keelung, Hong Kong, Singapore, Durban, Apapa, Cotonou, Lome, Tema, Abidjan, Cape Town (on alternate sailings), Durban (on alternate sailings), Port Louis, Colombo, Singapore and Shanghai.
Using the ships of the joint Asia/South Africa/East Coast of South America service with MOL, P&O Nedlloyd will also offer a weekly service between South Africa and South America, called Salsa. This service will commence in late April, with the sailing of the “P&O Nedlloyd Algoa” from Port Elizabeth.
