Evergreen starts China/India service

Evergreen starts China/India service    Evergreen Line and Dubai-based Simatech Shipping are partnering on a new service between China and India beginning in early January, the lines said last week.
   The service will operate with six 2,100-TEU vessels, with both carriers providing three vessels. Hamburg S’d is a slot buyer on the service. The rotation is Xingang, Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tanjung Pelepas, Port Klang, Nhava Sheva, Karachi, Colombo, Port Klang, Tanjung Pelepas, Singapore and Xingang.
   For Evergreen, it’s the fifth connection between China and the Indian Subcontinent, and the second direct to India, according to American Shipper affiliate ComPair Data.
   Hamburg S’d, meanwhile, will drop out of a similar MOL/Samudera loop on which it buys slots to take slots on the Evergreen/Simatech service. In a press release, the German line said it would continue to offer a China/Southeast Asia/India service it jointly operates with RCL, Sea Consortium and Wan Hai.
