Singapore ports sluggish after six months    The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore said container throughput at the world’s busiest port increased 1.2 percent in June to 2.02 million TEUs, from 1.99 million TEUs in the same month 2005.
   For the year to date, the Port of Singapore’s box volume has risen 3.5 percent to 11.8 million TEUs from 11.4 million TEUs in the same six-month period last year.
   The smaller Jurong Port in Singapore, which handles a mixture of bulk, breakbulk and container cargo, handled 59,000 TEUs in June, down 22.4 percent compared to 76,000 TEUs a year ago.
   After six months, Jurong Port has moved 412,000 TEUs, a drop of 7.2 percent from 444,000 TEUs in the corresponding period 2005.
