Koch, Raymond named to DHS maritime panel

Koch, Raymond named to DHS maritime panel    U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge Thursday named 20 industry veterans to serve on a new National Maritime Security Advisory Committee.
   The advisory panel was established under the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002 that mandated port and waterway security improvements under the supervision of the U.S. Coast Guard.
   The panel will work through the Coast Guard to provide advice to the department on national maritime security strategy and policy.
   Members of the committee include:
   * Christopher Koch, president of the World Shipping Council.
   * Joseph Langjahr, vice president and general counsel, Foss Maritime Co.
   * John Dragone, vice president, operations, Maritrans Operating Co. LP.
   * Basil Maher, president, Maher Terminals in Port Newark, N.J.
   * Charles Raymond, chairman and president, Horizon Lines.
   * Alice Johnson, senior supervisor, PPG Industries.
   * Timothy Scott, global director, emergency services and security, The Dow Chemical Co.
   * Mark Witten, senior regulatory advisor, Gulf of Mexico Deepwater Business Unit, ChevronTexaco.
   * Robert Merhige, deputy executive director, Virginia Port Authority.
   * Jeffrey Monroe, director of ports and transportation, Portland, Maine.
   * Lisa Himber, vice president, Maritime Exchange for the Delaware River and Bay.
   * Wade Battles, managing director, Port of Houston Authority.
   * John Hyde, security and compliance director, Maersk Sealand Inc.
   * William Eglinton, director of training, Seafarers International Union of North America.
   * James Stolpinski, president, Local 920, International Longshoremen’s Association.
   * David Halstead, chief, Florida Domestic Security Preparedness, Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
   * Victor Zaloom, industrial engineering professor and chairman of the Center for Ports and Waterways, Lamar University.
