Dagnese named president of Con-way Freight

Con-way plugged the leadership hole at its $3.6 billion business unit, created by the departure of former executive Gregory Lehmkuhl, with an industry veteran.

Con-way Inc. has reassigned industry veteran Joe Dagnese to lead the company’s less-than-truckload subsidiary following the departure of Gregory Lehmkuhl, who took a job as chief executive officer of a private-equity firm, the company announced Monday.
With $3.6 billion in revenues last year, Con-way Freight is the largest business unit within Con-way. Dagnese was president of Con-way Truckload, which is one-seventh the size of Con-way Freight in terms of sales.
Prior to becoming president of Con-way Truckload, Dagnese served as vice president of international operations for another Con-way subsidiary, Menlo Logistics. During his tenure he also led Menlo’s automotive and government services, and consumer, retail and industrial groups.
Dagnese joined Menlo after 14 years with The Proctor & Gamble Co. He is a graduate of Indiana University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business and transportation.
Lehmkuhl had headed Con-way Freight for almost four years.
A successor to Dagnese at Con-way Truckload will be named at a later date, Con-way said.
