A report in Dominican Today said there were 147,959 posts for blue-collar, technical and administrative workers in the sector in 2006, down from 154,781 in 1985. The report quoted statistics provided by the trade zone association.
That roughly matches the decline in the value of Dominican exports to the U.S., which dropped by 5 percent in 2006 to $4.4 billion.
