NASSCO delivers third Alaska-class tanker to BP

NASSCO delivers third Alaska-class tanker to BP    The National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) in San Diego, Calif., has delivered the tanker 'Alaskan Navigator' to BP Oil Shipping Company, USA.    The vessel is the third of four Alaska-class double-hull crude oil tankers being built for BP by the shipyard.
   The 'Alaskan Navigator' will join her sister ships, the 'Alaskan Frontier' (delivered in 2004) and the 'Alaskan Explorer' (delivered in 2005), carrying crude from Alaska to BP's refineries in Cherry Point, Wash., and Los Angeles. NASSCO will deliver the fourth ship in late 2006.
   Each of the Alaska-class vessels is 941 feet long, with a beam of 164 feet and a capacity of 1.3 million barrels of oil.
   BP Oil Shipping Company, USA, is a subsidiary of BP.
