Thompson served 30 years in the Army, 13 of which with the MTMC, the Alexandria, Va.-based surface transportation logistics unit for the armed forces.
During his retirement ceremony, Thompson praised MTMC Commander Gen. Ann Dunwoody for her efforts to transform MTMC to perform “surface distribution management” for the military.
“Transporters have traditionally been interested in transportation,” he said. “When you get into distribution, you have to know where the cargo is and what is in the containers.”
