Evergreen culls eastbound Asia/U.S. West Coast leg from NUE pendulum Evergreen Line is dropping calls at Thamesport in the United Kingdom and Los Angeles, eastbound only, from its Asia/U.S./Europe NUE pendulum operation, according to the latest sailing schedule from the Taiwanese ocean carrier.
   The last vessel to call at Los Angeles on the NUE will be the Ever Diadem on Sept. 15. The same vessel will make the last visit to Thamesport on Oct. 11-12.
   The suspension of eastbound arrivals at Los Angeles will mean the NUE no longer plies the Asia to U.S. West Coast trade. Westbound calls at Los Angeles and Oakland will remain. The move will boost the available weekly capacity from the Far East to the U.S. East Coast by some 2,000 TEUs.
   The revised NUE will run with 12 ships averaging 4,218 TEUs on a rotation of Busan; Shanghai; Ningbo; Qingdao; Cristobal, Panama; Charleston, S.C.; Norfolk, Va.; New York, N.Y.-N.J.; Antwerp; Bremerhaven; Rotterdam; Le Havre; New York; Norfolk; Charleston; Cristobal; Los Angeles; Oakland, Calif.; Tokyo; and back to Busan.
   New World Alliance carriers Hyundai Merchant Marine and MOL take slots from Evergreen on the Asia/U.S. East Coast leg of the service.
