Hutchinson veers back to Venable Former Republican congressman and Department of Homeland Security Undersecretary Asa Hutchinson made the keynote presentation Monday at a homeland security conference hosted by MarineLog and Railway Age magazines.
   The address came less than three weeks after he rejoined the law firm of Venable LLP as a partner. Hutchinson, who headed the border and transportation security directorate that has since been folded into the DHS policy office, returned to Venable after losing the election in November for governor of Arkansas.
   Venable said Hutchinson would litigate and co-lead the firm's Congressional Investigations Group, which will advise clients that are under the scrutiny of congressional committees. The announcement made no mention of a role in the firm's homeland security practice, which Hutchinson headed when he originally joined the firm in March 2005.
   Hutchinson will divide his time between Venable and his Little Rock-Ark.-based consultancy, The Hutchinson Group, which advises businesses on homeland security matters.
