Loaded exports increased 17.6 percent compared with the same month last year, while loaded imports improved by 11.5 percent, the Port of Melbourne Corp. said in a statement.
“The figures for the month of August are very encouraging, but it is too early to tell whether these volumes indicate a longer-term surge in exports or whether overall container throughput has bounced back,” said Stephen Bradford, chief executive officer at the Port of Melbourne.
