Fines for China honey? State investigators are threatening food distributors with fines and finding trace amounts of a banned antibiotics in honey imported from China, a report in Friday's Tallahassee Democrat says.
   The state Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services said the honey from China is not found in the pure honey sold in stores, but in processed foods, according to the report. The honey does not pose an immediate health threat.
   The department has tested some 50 samples of honey from domestic and foreign sources, including 14 samples of honey imported from China. Four of the 14 Chinese samples showed traces of    “fluoroquinolones,” a substance sometimes used to treat bee hives for disease. The substance is banned in the U.S.
   The Agriculture Deparment sent letters to distributors warning them they face fines of up to $5,000 if follow-up testing discovers the banned substance again, the report said.
