BNSF acquires forwarder MRS

BNSF acquires forwarder MRS    BNSF Logistics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp., has acquired MRS Cos., a Godfrey, Ill., brokerage and freight forwarder.
   Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
   MRS serves retail, furniture and consumer packaged goods companies across the U.S. Formed in 1985 by Michael R. Solomon, the forwarder currently employs 34 people.
   MRS will operate as a unit of BNSF Logistics’ transportation execution services business.
   Since its formation in August 2002, BNSF Logistics has expanded and now has operating personnel in Arkansas, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Illinois, serving shippers and carriers coast to coast, the company said.
