England’s airports report mixed February cargo volumes

During the month, London Heathrow Airport experienced a boost in exports to Latin America and East Asia, London Heathrow Airport CEO John Holland-Kaye said.    London-Heathrow Airport handled 121,424 metric tons of cargo in February, a 2.7 percent increase from February 2015, the airport said.

   Between March 2015 and February 2016, London-Heathrow Airport handled 1.5 million metric tons of cargo, a 0.5 percent decline from the previous 12 months.
   Meanwhile, London Stansted Airport saw February cargo volumes surge 9.4 percent year-over-year, the airport said. On a rolling 12-month basis, the airport handled over 240,000 metric tons, a 4.5 percent increase from the previous 12 months.
   Gatwick Airport, located just 28 miles south of London, reported a 12.2 percent year-over-year drop in February cargo volumes to 5,628 metric tons. The airport handled 72,063 metric tons of cargo between March 2015 and February 2016, an 18.1 percent decrease from the prior 12 months.
   East Midlands Airport, situated 105 miles northwest of London, handled 25,000 metric tons of cargo in February, a 2.5 percent increase from February 2015.
