Gritz heads Southern Air’s Europe operations

Gritz heads Southern AirÆs Europe operations    Southern Air Holdings has appointed Oliver Gritz to managing director for Europe.
   Gritz will oversee Southern Air’s European operations from the company’s office in Cologne, Germany, reporting to Daniel J. McHugh, chief executive officer.
   Gritz held various management positions with DHL Express, including executive vice president, board member and chief financial officer, from 2004 to 2009. He also served as an executive of the Swiss-based logistics group Danzas, which was acquired by Deutsche Post DHL in 1998.    He began his career with the German Schenker Logistics Group in 1985.
   Southern Air operates a cargo fleet of 14 Boeing 747s and two new 777s. The airline is the first ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance) operator in the world to operate the new 777 freighter.
