Protests in Mexico cause road blockages, added risk

   FreightWatch reported yesterday that an increased presence of armed self-defense groups in the area of La Tierra Caliente has provoked civilian protests in the streets. As a result of the protests, the main highway stretch from Cuatro Caminos to Apatzinan has been plagued by blockades. 
   With roads being blocked and protests in the area, cargo being transported in the area is under increased risk.
   These protests are a response to the existence of armed self-defense groups and the infectiveness of the federal government in disarming them, FreightWatch said. 
   FreightWatch recommends carriers and drivers avoid these areas of high tension and actively monitor shipments traveling in high risk zones until events subside.
