UASC to use GT Nexus for e-commerce applications

   The liner carrier United Arab Shipping Co. (UASC) will use the cloud-based supply chain technology provider GT Nexus to provide transactional e-commerce services, the company said this week.
   UASC has integrated its operational systems to support bookings, shipping instructions, schedules, and shipment status events for multiple customers through the GT Nexus platform.
   “Over the past decade, the world’s biggest shippers and 3PLs have proactively instituted transportation and supply chain management control towers in the cloud on GT Nexus,” said Vijay Minocha, head of customer service and e-commerce at UASC. “The ability to fully support our customers in the cloud is essential to delivering visibility and agility they need to compete today.”
   Carriers integrate to the GT Nexus platform once and then use that single standardized interface to exchange business information with thousands of GT Nexus customers.
   “UASC is a welcome addition to the community of ocean carriers operating on the platform,” said Michelle Cummings, vice president of ocean services and partners for GT Nexus, in a statement. “Our customers place very high strategic value on their partner’s ability to interact with them on GT Nexus. UASC will now be positioned to work in an efficient, standardized way on their key client’s platform of choice.”
