The cranes are expected to take seven days to offload and be operational by the first week of March. Once in place, the APM Terminal will have eight post-Panamax cranes in service.
The cranes will help the Port of Virginia handle the 8,000-TEU and larger containerships that will be able to call the port on a more regular basis once the Panama Canal widening project is completed in 2014.
