Carriers reshuffle Asia-ECSA services

Ocean3 Alliance partners CMA CGM, UASC and CSCL, along with Hamburg Sud, Hapag-Lloyd and NYK, have entered into a vessel sharing agreement on two loops between Asia and the East Coast of South America.    Ocean carriers CMA CGM, United Arab Shipping Company, China Shipping Container Lines, Hamburg Sud, Hapag-Lloyd and NYK have entered into a vessel sharing agreement on two loops between Asia and the East Coast of South America.
   The new loops, NEX1 and NEX2, will deploy a total of 23 containerships with a capacity of between 8,000 and 10,000 TEUs operated by the six carriers, according to a statement from NYK.
   The NEX1 will commence with the July 14 sailing of the CMA CGM Mekong from Shanghai. The loop will be operated with 11 vessels with capacity of between 8,000 and 9,000 TEUs The rotation of the NEX1 will be Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian, Hong Kong, Singapore, Port Kelang, Sepetiba, Santos, Itapoa, Navegantes, Paranagua, Santos, Port Kelang, Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
   The first sailing of the NEX2 will leave Busan July 11 on the CSCL Africa. The carriers will deploy 12 vessels 8,000-10,000-TEU vessels on the service on a port rotation of Busan, Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Chiwan, Singapore, Port Kelang, Santos, Paranagua, Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Rio Grande, Itapoa, Santos, Port Kelang, Singapore and Busan.
   The NEX1 will stem from the joint Maersk Line, Hapag-Lloyd and CMA CGM ASAS service, which will split into two strings after the July 3 sailing of the Tubul from Busan, according to carriers’ online service schedules.
   According to ocean carrier schedule and capacity database BlueWater Reporting, the ASAS operates with 12 vessels with an average capacity of 8,098 TEUs. The port rotation of the loop is Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tanjung Pelepas, Santos, Sepetiba, Porto Itapoa, Itajai, Paranagua, Santos, Sepetiba, Ngqura, Singapore, Hong Kong and Busan. CSCL, Hamburg Sud, Hanjin, and subsidiary lines Alianca, ANL, Delmas and Safmarine currently purchase slots on the ASAS service.
   The NEX2 will stem from the AS2 service, jointly operated Hamburg Sud, CSCL, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, Hanjin and Maersk. The AS2 will split after the July 3 sailing of the CMA CGM Tigris from Shanghai, according to carriers’ online service schedules. The AS2 operates with 14 vessels with an average capacity of 8,960 TEUs, according to BlueWater Reporting. The service has a rotation of Shanghai, Ningbo, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Port Kelang, Santos, Paranagua, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Rio Grande, Porto Itapoa, Santos, Durban, Port Kelang, Singapore, Hong Kong, Busan, Qingdao and Shanghai. Alianca, ANL, Delmas and Safmarine also currently take slot on the AS2.
   Maersk Line is leaving both the ASAS and the AS2. The Danish carrier will cooperate with MOL and fellow 2M Alliance member MSC on their joint SW2 and CSW loops between Asia and the East Coast of South America, both scheduled to commence at the beginning of July.
